For anyone who doesn’t know, Extra Life is a 24 hour gaming marathon in which participants get sponsors to help them raise money for a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. It takes place on October 20th this year. This is my 3rd year participating. My first year I raised $500 for Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and last year I raised $1000. This year I got some friends together to help me out and together we’re shooting for at least $2000.
CHOC is very important to me. As most of you know, I lost my best friend, Taylor Christopher Biardi, to Melanoma in 2010. For years before he passed, he was treated at CHOC. Even before that, my little sister was treated there on several occasions for severe asthma attacks. Time and time again, this hospital has come through for us. And while they were ultimately not able to save Taylor, they gave him more time and always tried their hardest, all while keeping their spirits up and remaining optimistic, which gave Tay the strength to fight for as long as he did.
So, having said all that, I have about 100 followers. If every follower donates $5 to CHOC through Extra Life, that’s $500. Such a big impact for such a small sacrifice. And then if you all reblog, we can spread the word and raise a whole bunch of money for these kids! Lets get as many notes as possible! Let’s help CHOC out!!!
